Mountain Hike

The hut tour leads from the hut Göppinger via the high trail to the Lake Formarinsee. At Alpe Formarin the path leads to the Steinernen Meer and on to the Gehrengrat. On the Gehrengrat downhill to the Lake Spullersee and the hut Ravensburger.

After an overnight stay at the hut Göppinger the tour starts directly from the hut. The beautiful Steinmayerweg leads along the signposted path in the direction of the Lake Formarinsee. The high trail is partly secured with handles, there are some easy climbing passages. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are absolutely essential. After about three hours you reach the Formarin alpine pasture. From here the path branches off to the Steinernen Meer and Gehrengrat. It goes constantly uphill, after one hour you reach the Steinerne Meer. Here the path branches off to the left to the Gehrengrat. The ascent is steep and strenuous. The view is breathtaking. At the Gehrengrat you have a wonderful panoramic view over all other peaks. From the Gehrengrat you descend steeply over grass slopes and rocky passages until you reach the lake Spullersee after two hours. At the lake Spullersee a wide gravel path leads around the lake. Follow the signs for 45 minutes to the hut Ravensburger.

Directions

After an overnight stay at the hut Göppinger, the tour starts directly at the hut. The beautiful Steinmayerweg leads along the signposted path in the direction of Lake Formarinsee. The high trail is partly secured with handles, there are some easy climbing passages. The path is rocky and partly exposed. Surefootedness and a head for heights are absolutely essential. After about three hours you reach the Alpe Formarin. From here, the path branches off to the Steinernen Meer and Gehrengrat. If one has time, one can walk on the right side along the road to the lake Formarinsee and to the hut Freiburger. But we decide for the way to the Steinernen Meer. It goes constantly over meadows uphill, after one hour one reaches the Steinerne Meer. Here the path branches off to the left to the Gehrengrat. To the right it goes over the Steinerne Meer to the hut Freiburger or to the summit of Formaletsch. The ascent to Gehrengrat is steep and strenuous. The view is breathtaking. At the Gehrengrat you have a wonderful panoramic view over all other peaks. In about 100 meters lead along the ridge. From the Gehrengrat it goes steeply downhill, over grass slopes and rocky rocky passages. Then the path changes, becomes flatter and goes gently downhill until you reach Lake Spullersee after two hours. At the lake Spullersee, a wide gravel path leads around the lake. One can circle the lake on the right as well as on the left and both times a path leads away to the Ravensburger hut. Follow the signs for another 45 minutes either on the road or on a path to the hut Ravensburger.
